Vice-chancellor of the Islamic Arabic University (IAU) has been accused of corruption in the appointment of the university's registrar. Apart from this, there are also allegations of receiving commission for car repair and purchase of furniture goods, including recruitment by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Arabic University without complying with the recruitment ban.
By disabling the Pro-Vice Chancellor, he is acting arbitrarily in all the activities of the university. After a series of such complaints to the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department, the complaint papers have been sent to the UGC for submitting an inquiry report on the matter recently. However, he denied all the allegations against him. The Vice-Chancellor of the University wants an investigation into the allegations. It is known that Kamrul Islam, the Chief Registrar of Patuakhali Science and Technology University, who was dismissed due to corruption, was appointed as the Registrar of Arabic University in exchange for Tk40 lakh.
Disregarding UGC's recruitment ban, one PRL (Post Retirement Leave) officer was appointed as Controller of Examinations on a contractual basis and another as Finance and Director. He earns money by hiring his housemaid as a cleaner. Disobeying government regulations, he took a commission of Tk 6 lakh from the expenses of repairing the VC's car and taking a commission from the expenses for the purchase of furniture and goods. There are also allegations that the Pro-Vice Chancellor has been relieved of all duties. Apart from this, the 16th grade officer was given additional responsibility and paid the 9th grade salary. Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid said, "I have heard the allegations brought against me. But no one has yet come to me to investigate this matter. I am working in various ways for the development of the university. I am also working against the irregularities and corruption of the previous VC.
Because of this a class purposefully wants to degrade or belittle me. All the allegations against me are false. I am working with 100% transparency. Let the allegations against me be investigated. Regarding receiving Tk40 lakhs from the registrar, he said, you can find out from the registrar. He was systematically recruited. He said that all activities will be carried out by the law.
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has sent a 23-page complaint letter to the UGC chairman. It has been asked to send an investigation report in this regard. Regarding the investigation, UGC member (Public University) Hassena Khan said, "We have heard the complaint against the vice-chancellor of the Islamic Arabic University. We try to act promptly and transparently on any complaint. We also have complaints against the officials of various universities. These complaints have not been seen yet. We will investigate this matter in stages.
